Sad you missed out on Hajj?

Many of us feel left out. We feel deprived. We feel depressed. We feel very sad at heart. This is because many of us did not get the opportunity to go and visit the Sacred House of Allah this year. Some of us may have already gone for Hajj, but yet we miss the Ka’bah already. Many of us have never gone for Hajj, and we feel extremely disheartened.

But don’t feel sad, and don’t feel deprived. Yes, we should all make sincere du’aa’s that Allah bless us to visit His Sacred House sometime in the near future, or at least before we leave this world. However, the Prophet Muhammad told you of a way that you can get the rewards of Hajj & ‘Umrah, without having to travel far. Yes, you can get the ultimate rewards of Hajj and ‘Umrah , right where you are!

Don’t believe it? Have doubts? Think it’s too good to be true?

Then listen to the Prophetic words yourself:

مَنْ صَلَّى الفَجْرَ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ ثُمَّ قَعَدَ يَذكُرُ اللهَ, حَتَّى يَطلُعَ الشَّمْسُ, ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَينِ, كَانَتْ لَهُ كَأَجْرِ حَجَّةٍ وَعُمرَةٍ تَامَّة تَامَّة تَامَّة

Anas Ibn Maalik (may Allah be pleased with him) said that, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah send peace & blessings upon him) said: “Whoever prays Fajr Prayer in congregation, and then sits and remembers Allah until the sun rises, and then prays 2 rak’as, he will gain a reward equal to that of performing a perfect, perfect, perfect Hajj and Umrah.”

Some people like to narrate weak hadeeths, related to the virtues of certain deeds, just to ‘motivate’ or impress the people. Like, “whoever says this du’aa’ will get the reward of 70,000 martyrs, 70,000 siddeeqeen and 70,000 prophets.” Or what they narrate about the first 10 Days of Dhul-Hijjah, that “each night that a person prays (Tahajjud) is equivalent to Laylat al-Qadr”. We should not do this. We should only accept what has been authentically transmitted from the Messenger of Allah, so we can confirm and establish that he really made this statement.

So for your information: This hadeeth was recorded by At-Tirmidhi in his Jaami’, and he said that it is “Hasan Saheeh” [authentic]. This hadeeth was graded “saheeh” by the Scholar of Hadeeth, Al-Albaani, in his Saheeh Al-Jaami’, hadeeth # 6346. Other slightly different wordings of this hadeeth were authenticated by Ibn Hajar, As-Suyooti, Al-Haythami and Al-Mundhiri.

Dear reader, the Messenger of Allah has told us, that if we pray the “Fajr Prayer” (i.e. the dawn prayer), in “jamaa’ah“.  Jamaa’ah means, congregation. Many times in the Sunnah, when the term jamaa’ah is used, it is specifically referring to: “The Masjid”. However, the general meaning of jamaa’ah, is if a person prays along with at least two people. Some scholars said, the minimum amount of people for a Prayer to be considered “jamaa’ah” is 3. But the correct opinion is that 2 people are sufficient, for the Prayer to be considered “jamaa’ah”. This is the meaning of this term, in this particular hadeeth. * But of course, there is no doubt that praying in the Masjid is much more preferrable. And it is also obligatory upon all Muslim men, due to many authentic evidences. If someone has a legitimate excuse that is preventing him, then he is definitely excused, as long as that preventing factor is there. Allah said in Surah 2, verse # 185: “Allah wants to make things easy for you, He doesn’t want to make things difficult for you.”

Lastly, dear reader, look at the end of the hadeeth. The Prophet (peace be upon him) stated that such a person — who prays the Fajr Salah in jamaa’ah, and sits until the sun rises (all the while remembering Allah and reading Quran and various adhkaar), and then gets up and prays 2 Rak’ahs — will get a reward similar to that of a perfect, perfect, perfect Hajj and ‘Umrah! The Prophet speficially repeated the word “taammah” (complete or perfect) 3 times.

What an amazing gift your Messenger has put in front of you! All you have to do now, is reach out to take this gift. If you just sit back and stare at this gift, then you will keep on staring. But if you want to benefit, come forward and seize this golden chance. Get a Hajj & ‘Umrah reward today!

PS – (disclaimer) If you think that just by doing this, you don’t have to go for Hajj (i.e. you’ve fulfilled the obligation of performing Hajj), then think again. No! You still have to go to Makkah and perform all the rituals of Hajj. This isn’t some kind of short-cut or timesaver. This is merely a chance for all of you who couldn’t go for Hajj this year, to get a taste of the ultimate rewards of Hajj (plus ‘Umrah). You can get these amazing unbelievable rewards by simply following this hadeeth.
